Question by Hoekie: Destination/elopement style wedding…now everyone wants to come, but I wanted it to be intimate?
My fiance and I are planning to get married on the beach along the Washington State coast next June. We live only about 450 miles east in Eastern Washington. I wanted it to be intimate and elopement-like. My parents were planning to come and be our witnesses. And were were to have a reception when we return. However, as soon as everyone found out that’s what we wanted to do, half of my extended family invited themself and now plan on going. I don’t want to be rude and tell them no, but it’s ending up not really being what I wanted. Am I being irrational? This is also supposed part of our honeymoon, and having a bunch of others trekking along doesn’t sound like much fun. Should I just say nothing, and allow whoever wants to come, to come? Or is there a nice way for me to let them know that we really wanted it to just be the two of us?

I would send each family member a letter explaining to them in a polite way that you appreciate their enthusiasm about your wedding but you really just want it to be an intimate occassion. Then invite them to the reception that will take place once you return. If their feelings get hurt, that’s their problem. This is YOUR wedding day. Don’t let yourself be dissappointed on one of the most important days of your life.

My fiance and I have an option to going to one of three destinations in Mexico for our honeymoon. Which do you recommend and why- Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta or Playa del Carmen? We are looking for beach, snorkeling, and relaxation with an occasional fun excursion.

Acapulco is dangerous now. Tourists have been killed by drug lords. I would steer clear of Mexico altogether but Puerto Vallerta might be your best bet if you are going to go.

I live in India, my budget for honey moon is around 1lac per head and I wish to fo in Feb. What are the best destinations that can fit my budget. I wonna go for 10-15 days trip. I am considering Singapore, Kuala Lampur and Langkawi. How is their weather in Feb? Does it a rain a lot?

Also please suggest some interesting honeymoon destinations in Europe and elsewhere.

Cyprus.

Has everything you need. Climate is OK in Feb but not too hot.

No direct flights from india but you could travel via Dubai. Possibly stay in Dubai for a couple of days on route.
