Question by phatchick182004: Honeymoon Registry?
I’m getting married in February of ’09 and my fiance and I were talking about doing a honeymoon registry instead of registering at like Bed, Bath, and Beyond or something. We’re already living together, so we don’t need dishes or anything like that. Has anyone on here done that, and if so, was that the only registry you did?
Thanks so much for the help. :-)

you can do a wedding registry through Liberty Travel. I think I would also do a small registry via Target/Macy’s ect…so this way you give your guests options (like for your bridal shower). I didn’t think I needed anything either, but they (the bridal consultants at Macy’s) suggested that anything that we had that was over 3 years old, put on the registry.

Guests like to get you gifts..they not may want to contribute towards your honeymoon.

A Look at honeymoon registry in Honeymoon registry?

Question by Jenn: Honeymoon registry?
Do you guys really think it’s that bad to have one? Before I planned on having one, I had people asking me what we needed and since we have lived together for 5 years, we have all household items. When I brought this option up, a lot of people were excited about it and thought it was a great idea. Then, I got on a “destination wedding etiquette” web page and asked if it was an okay thing to do. The experts responded that it was just the same as a regular registry and actually really growing in popularity. We are only inviting 40 people to the wedding and have included things in a variety of price ranges. I would hope this wouldn’t come across as rude as people have a registry anyway…so what is the difference. Go check my site out…I want serious opinions. I really don’t want to come across as rude to my guests.

If you don’t agree with this…do you have any other ideas? We are paying for our honeymoon, most of the gifts are for things to do while there…restaraunts, souveniers, etc. What if I took off the option for plane tickets and rental car? Would that be better?
But when registrys were first introduced, brides were virgins until their wedding night and weddings were never held on a beach and especially not so far from home! So, why would the purpose and ways of a registry stay the same, but everything else changes? Trust me, I am not wanting to argue…I really appreciate all opinions. But, can’t you see it that way too? Thanks so much for all of your answers! I will keep this open for a while longer as I truly want a lot of input on this. The last thing I want to do is offend people! Oh, and just so you know, we already have the $ saved up for the wedding and honeymoon, so it’s not like we NEED the honeymoon registry, I just thought it would be something we could really use and isn’t that the true purpose of the wedding registry?
Any money that we saved for the honeymoon but didn’t use due to the registry would be used as part of the down payment on our first home.

Sorry, I know your heart is in the right place, but I don’t think it’s a good idea. A bridal registry’s intent is to set up the bride and groom in their new home. The honeymoon should really be paid for by the bride and groom.

EDIT: My suggestion would be if people ask to just say “We’re all set with things for the house” and leave it at that. There is no rule that says you “have” to have a registry of any type.
