Question by Brian H: What is appropriate attire for my trip?
My Fiance and I are going on a cruise for our Honeymoon. We will be taking shore Excursions during the Day. It will be mid June. Our ports are Messina, Sicily; Athens, Greece; Ephesus, Turkey; and Irkalion, Crete.
We are young in mid 20′s and active. I know for some places if we are going to churches and religous sites, no shorts or shoulders. But what about when we go to the Acropolis in Athens, or walking around Crete or a wine tour in Sicily. What do you suggest for a day around Rome? One day we are going to St. Peter’s so I know we have to wear pants…but what I am curious mainly about is the other days, can I wear shorts and t-shirt or polo? My fiance can she wear shorts? Probably not bc they will be much shorter than men’s conservative shorts….HELP!

Shorts are fine for the Acropolis or Crete or Sicily, just not for St Peter’s or other church tours. I would not wear a tank top though or short shorts. All my shorts are mid thigh and I wore those all over greece, Ephesus and Turkey too. I went in July and it was very hot then, like 100 degrees, so very few wore long pants.
